When I talk about the sense of political frustration I feel when I see Joe Biden bragging about his ability to cozy up to Southern racists ..

.. while, at the same time, treating progressives from his own party like they are some kind of pariahs ..

I feel your sense of frustration .. at the lack of any kind of progress whatsoever.

Speaking of folks who elevate the value and the importance of money, a man-made thing, to a value and a status higher than it deserves ..

.. I want to ask Nancy Pelosi what she thinks about the way Corporate Profits at Boeing sent Safety into the backseat.

This here is a classic example of fucked-up values on full display for all the world to see.

Do you think that the decision-makers in this case .. do you think they are embarrassed by being found out?

Do you think they feel any sort of contrition? Over the lives lost? The lives lost because of the poor decisions made regarding this commercial aircraft.

The obviously poor decisions that seemed of be more profit-centric than safety-centric. Than life-centric.

Our current form of government really represents only the Wealthy .. because it responds only to money.

This is how it has been designed to operate, to function, over a number of decades.

The degree to which our government responds only to Money, instead of the Citizenry .. this is a measure of the degree of corruption in our government.

What number would you assign to characterize corruption in our government? On a scale from 0% corrupt (responds to citizenry) vs 100% corrupt (responds only to Money » "Fuck those jobless citizens who lost their healthcare during the economic fallout of the deadly global pandemic.").

You are leaving a form of government so corrupt that it has been totally captured by the wealthy, and responds only to money.

Dont you know, Nanc, that capital is merely an accounting construct? (Probably not.)

The floating tree is an illusion in the sense that it certainly looks real .. but alas, it is not. It is actually a man-made thing you are seeing.

» The Elderly Die Alone, Their Lungs Filling with Fluid

The thing that got me thinking along these lines .. was when I heard doctor Rob describe the nature of the death experienced by those infected with the virus.

He is an emergency room doctor who is there when patients die. He says they die alone, their lungs filling with fluid .. until they can no longer breathe.

Doctor Rob is there when patients take their last breath .. when they take that final gasp before giving up the ghost.

We all come to the place in life where we take our last breath. Nobody is exempt. Nobody gets out of here alive. But this is a horrible way to go.

That is a particularly disturbing way to die .. not being able to breathe.

I happen to know a little something about what it feels like when you simply cannot catch your breath. It feels like you are suffocating.

It is an extremely distressing feeling. I dont think anyone can really appreciate the sensation of not being able to catch your breath .. until you have actually experienced it for yourself.

» Historical Points of Comparison

Here in the US, we are already approaching a quarter million deaths from the virus.

As a point of comparison, the Vietnam War, which lasted some 20 years (1955 to 1975) took the lives of 58K Americans.

This includes all deaths, such as accidents, homicide, and "self-inflicted".. whatever that might mean.

So we already have more-than-quadrupled the total number of deaths suffered during the entire 20-year Vietnam War .. and it has not even been a year yet.

For another point of comparison .. the total number of U.S. casualties, from all sources, during World War II, which lasted a number of years, was » 400K.

That should provide some historical context to the size and scope of this pandemic we are currently experiencing.

These are huge numbers. They are huge numbers and they are climbing so quickly. In other words, this coronavirus is a big deal.

Almost nobody under the age of 55 has died. The death rate starts climbing around 65 or 70. See for yourself.

The abbreviation IFR in the chart heading above stands for » Infection Fatality Rate.

Notice that they do not use the word death. Nor do they spell out the word Fatality.

If someone were to stumble upon this chart here without the good doctor present to break it down for them .. they might very well miss its significance.

The existentialist in me wants (likes) to see things as clearly and plainly as possible .. which will naturally include the ugly side of things along with the beautiful.

It is actually still only the 30th of September right now.

It won't be the 1st of October for a few more hours.

I was outside a little while ago and it was still very warm. The air is warm and dry and still. It reminded me of the nights I spent in the desert.

Hotel California weather. Colitas werent the only thing I was smelling those nights.

You know, I tried to capture this image here at exactly 10:01, as a way of mirroring the date, which is also 10-01.

(It's a quirky thing of mine.)

But I missed it. I was late by a minute. I was busy flirting with a super-hottie, and she wouldnt let me go.

I said, "I need to go. I need to go chronicle the end of the world."

She said, "Just five more minutes."

I said, "You said that an hour ago."

She said, "I know, but this time I really mean it."

I am not making excuses here, and blaming super-hotties .. but this is why I am late.

I won't mention any names, but she knows who she is.

I will try not to let it happen again .. because I know how important timing can be. (Eddie Glenn knows what I am talking about.)
